Our Mission The mission of the Enforcement Division is to protect Louisiana's fish and wildlife resources and their habitats by enforcing related laws and regulations and to create a secure environment for the maximum enjoyment of hunting, fishing, recreational boating and affiliated outdoor activities.
We are committed to fulfilling this mission throughout the entire state. Nine regional offices are located throughout the state to provide information as well as assistance to outdoor enthusiast.
Colonel Winton Vidrine Chief Division Administrator
Position: Chief Law Enforcement Officer and Administrator for the Enforcement Division of the Louisiana Dept of Wildlife and Fisheries.
Colonel Vidrine is a 31-year veteran of the department, who began his career as a field agent assigned to St. Landry Parish. During his tenure with the Department, Colonel Vidrine was promoted to the rank of captain in 1976 where he supervised the Acadiana Parishes and was assigned to the Region VI, Opelousas office. In 1978, he was promoted to the rank of major and was assigned as the Supervisor of Regions VI and VII working from the Baton Rouge Headquarters Office. In 1980, he earned the promotion of Lt. Colonel serving the Enforcement Division as the Assistant Administrator. It was in 1988 that Colonel Vidrine assumed the leadership role as the Chief Administrator of the Division and where he still serves with great pride. Colonel Vidrine has served on many boards and affiliates himself with many professional organizations. Among those are North America Wildlife Enforcement Officers Association, Southeastern Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies, Louisiana Wildlife Agents Association and the Knights of Columbus. He has been married to his wife Jeanell, for 36 years and they share their lives with their son Gregory, his wife Jeanne and his grandchildren Ashley and Colby.
