EMPLOYMENT >> BENEFITSRISK MANAGEMENTIn accordance with state statute and regulation, the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (WLF) has implemented an operational safety and loss prevention plan to protect employees from injury and harm. We have a general safety policy and plan for the Department, with other individual policies on specific topics. The importance of integrating safety into the total job function cannot be overemphasized. Employees should be constantly reminded that safety must become an everyday consideration in their work in the various work sections and areas. In short, safety should be a practical learning experience to be used in performing job duties. Proper use of safety/security information provided to employees, coupled with the WLF safety policies and procedures, plus work unit safety procedures and training, and information secured from vendors on new equipment and products, is designed to result in a program through which every employee becomes safety/security conscious and knowledgeable. The Department is also committed to a violence free workplace. There is a policy which outlines responsibilities in this effort, procedures and a format for reporting incidents, incident investigation and response, and tips on recognizing inappropriate behavior and minimizing violence. The Department also has policies governing Equal Employment Opportunity (prohibition of discrimination against any person on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, disability, veteran status or any other non-merit factor) as well as Sexual Harassment (no adverse actions based on a person’s gender). |
