The Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission voted unanimously to name Terry Denmon the chairman of the commission for 2006. Commissioner Fred Miller nominated Denmon and he was elected unopposed. Earl King was also elected unanimously as vice-chairman.
Denmon has been a member of the commission since 2000. He was appointed by then Gov. Mike Foster as an at-large appointee. During 2005, he served as vice-chairman of the commission.
When asked about his motivation for serving on the commission, Denmon said, "I would like to see the positive message regarding the sports of hunting and fishing broadened to non-user audiences, so as to increase the number of persons (especially women and children) involved in these sports."
Denmon feels that it is important to manage our wildlife and fisheries resources both for their own conservation and for the maximum benefit of sportsmen and sportswomen.
