OFFICE OF STATE PURCHASING ANNOUNCES REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS FOR SHRIMP AND OYSTER GROUNDS DEBRIS REMOVAL

Release Date: 02/18/2007

The Division of Administration's Office of State Purchasing is advertising a Request For Proposals (RFP) to remove and properly dispose of hurricane related marine debris from Louisiana coastal waters.

The presence of debris on the state's shrimping and oyster grounds is an issue of major concern.  Debris in these waters constitutes a danger to navigation and fishing and has resulted in damages to vessels and loss and damage to fishing gear.

The purpose of the RFP is to obtain competitive proposals as allowed by LA R.S. 39:1593.C from bona fide, well qualified proposers interested in removing debris from the state's shrimping and fishing grounds.  Funding for the proposed project comes from a congressional appropriation for the rehabilitation of Louisiana oyster beds and shrimp grounds (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration grant #NA06NMF4540319).

Sealed proposals will be opened at the Office of State Purchasing, Division of Administration, P. O. Box 94095, 1201 North Third Street, Claiborne Building, 2nd Floor, Suite 2-160, Baton Rouge, LA at 10 a.m. CT on March 27, 2007, for the following:
