Shrimp Task Force Management and Sustainability Subcommittees to Meet Thursday

(July 23, 2012) – The Louisiana Shrimp Task Force Management and Sustainability Subcommittees will meet onThursday, July 26, 2012, in Baton Rouge at Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Headquarters in Baton Rouge in the Louisiana Room. 

The Management Subcommittee meeting begins at 10 a.m. and the agenda is as follows:

            I.  Larger Skimmer Size

           II.   Alternate Gear

           III.  Discussion of 100 Count Exemption

           IV.  Discussion of Opening Times of Seasons

The Sustainability Subcommittee meeting begins at 11 a.m. and the agenda is as follows:

           I.  MSC Pre-assessment and FAO Code Pre-assessment Discussion With Handout

           II.  Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club – Fisheries Improvement Plan Process

           III.  Discussion on Challenges to Sustainability Certification

The Louisiana Shrimp Task Force was created by Act 606 of the Louisiana Legislature to study and monitor the shrimp industry and to make recommendations to the state.
