Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries enforcement agents cited a Lake Charles man for alleged red snapper violations in Cameron Parish on Sept. 28.

Agents cited John G. Ceasar, 54, for possessing over the limit of red snapper and undersized red snapper.

Agents were on patrol on the Mermentau River when they stopped a recreational vessel, with Ceasar on board, to conduct a fishing compliance check.  During the check, Ceasar was found in possession of 25 red snapper of which 15 were undersized.

Licensed anglers can possess up to four red snapper with a minimum size requirement of 16 inches.

Agents seized 25 red snapper in connection to the case.

Possessing over the limit of red snapper and undersized red snapper brings a $100 to $350 fine for each offense.  Ceasar may also face civil restitution totaling $717 for the illegally possessed red snapper.
