Search crews from the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) Enforcement Division and the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office recovered the body of a Shreveport man in a Caddo Parish waterway today, March 2.

The deceased body of Jack Cobb, 33, was recovered from Wallace Lake and turned over to the Caddo Parish Coroner’s Office to determine an official cause of death.

LDWF agents and CPSO deputies were alerted about the missing boater around 8:30 p.m. on Feb. 23 near the Cypress Garden Boat Launch on Wallace Lake.  When authorities arrived on scene, they found a submerged 11-foot pirogue and a backpack belonging to Cobb.

LDWF will be the lead investigative agency for this fatal boating incident.  No personal flotation devices were found in the pirogue or on Cobb’s body.

According to family members of Cobb, he left out of the Cypress Garden Boat Launch around 4:30 to 5 p.m. on Feb. 23.  It is unknown at this time what caused the pirogue to become submerged and how Cobb entered the water.
