Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries enforcement agents cited a Buras man for alleged violations of commercial pompano regulations on Aug. 1 in Plaquemines Parish.
Agents cited George D. Arnesen, 55, for failing to comply with pompano permit regulations.
Agents were patrolling the Breton Sound area when they observed Arnesen’s vessel setting a strike net near Curlew Island. Upon further investigation, agents documented that Arnesen was in violation of the depth regulations for pompano strike nets.
Agents seized 173 pounds of pompano and sold them to the highest bidder.
Failing to comply with pompano permit regulations carries up to a $350 fine.
Agents participating in the case are Lt. Adam Young and Agent Josh Schilling.
