Dec. 13, 2019 - The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) is advising the public destined for Pass-a-Loutre Wildlife Management Area (WMA) to be aware of the temporary closure of Cadro Pass.

The northern portion of Cadro Pass within the Pass-a-Loutre WMA is currently impassable due to shoaling on Cadro Pass between Dennis Pass and the Cadro Pass Campground. Contractors are planning to dredge the site and have the work completed prior to the opening of the second waterfowl season split in the Coastal Zone on Dec. 21.

Pass-a-Loutre WMA, which encompasses 115,000 acres, is located at the mouth of the Mississippi River, approximately 10 miles south of Venice in southern Plaquemines Parish. Access is by boat only. For more information, go to http://www.wlf.louisiana.gov/wma/2786
