The reoccurring commercial net season for False River, Lake Bruin and Lake Providence is now open and will continue through sunset on February 29, 2016.

In 2014, the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission extended the season by one month.  The Department hopes the season extension will increase commercial angler participation and harvest of fish including buffalo, carp and freshwater drum.

During this season the use of gill and trammel nets greater than or at least a minimum of 3.5 square inches (7 inches stretched) is allowed.  Commercial fishing activity will only be allowed during daylight hours with the exception of gear that can be set overnight; however, all fish caught should be removed during daylight hours only.
