The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries announced that the 2018 commercial fishing season for greater amberjack in Louisiana state waters will remain closed until January 1, 2019.

The season is currently closed, and current landings data indicate that 106.4 percent of the 2018 Gulf of Mexico commercial quota (277,651 pounds) has been harvested.

The state closure has been set in conjunction with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Fisheries. NOAA announced that federal waters would also remain closed to commercial amberjack fishing until the season reopens on January 1, 2019.
