The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) is accepting bids and lottery applications through July 31, 2014 for five available houseboat mooring sites at Pass-a-Loutre Wildlife Management Area (WMA) in Plaquemines Parish.

Two successful bidders will be awarded a five-season lease agreement allowing houseboat mooring from Sept. 1 to March 15 for the duration of the lease. LDWF will award the remaining three mooring permits to applicants whose names are drawn for a one-year permit to use assigned mooring pilings at designated sites in Southeast Pass on the WMA. The permit for the lottery sites provides the same Sept. 1 to March 15 houseboat mooring privileges.

The houseboat permits issued will allow for outdoor opportunities including hunting (deer, ducks, hogs, rabbits, etc.), fishing and boating.  However, no houseboat permit holder or permit holder guest may act as a hunting guide, outfitter, or in any other capacity for which they are paid for services rendered on the WMA.

Additional houseboat lease bid and lottery application details, the lease bid application form and the lottery application form are available on the LDWF website at http://www.wlf.louisiana.gov/wma under the Pass-a-Loutre WMA heading, or by mail, upon request.

Completed lease bid and lottery applications, and a check or money order required for each, must be submitted to LDWF by 10 a.m. on July 31, 2014. Bid applications can be mailed to LDWF Houseboat Bids, 2000 Quail Drive, Baton Rouge, LA 70808, ATTN: Tracy Mancuso, Room 422. Applications can also be delivered to LDWF Headquarters, Room 422, 2000 Quail Drive, Baton Rouge, LA 70808.
