Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) enforcement agents in conjunction with the LaSalle Parish Sheriff’s Office (LPSO) arrested a LaSalle Parish man for alleged deer hunting violations and drug charges on Dec. 5.

LDWF agents and LPSO deputies arrested Joey R. Deville, 49, for possession of a firearm by convicted felon, hunting deer during illegal hours, hunting deer using illegal methods, criminal trespassing, possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

LDWF agents received a complaint and trail camera photo of Deville night hunting on property he did not have permission to access.  Agents were then able to obtain search warrants for Deville’s property in LaSalle Parish.

On Dec. 5, LDWF agents in conjunction with the LPSO served the warrants and interviewed Deville at his residence.  Deville admitted to hunting at night on his neighbor’s hunting lease without permission.

Agents also found and seized multiple firearms, drugs and drug paraphernalia during the search at Deville’s residence.  Agents then booked Deville into the LaSalle Parish Jail.

Hunting during illegal hours brings a $900 to $950 fine and up to 120 days in jail.  Hunting deer using illegal methods carries a $250 to $500 fine and up to 60 days in jail.

Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon brings a $1,000 to $5,000 fine and five to 20 years in jail.  Criminal trespassing carries a $100 to $500 fine and up to 30 days in jail.
