LDWF Agents Cite Ama Man for Fishing Violations in Plaquemines Parish
A Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries enforcement agent cited a Louisiana man for alleged fishing violations in Plaquemines Parish on Nov. 20.
The agent cited Tyrone Gauthier Jr., 22, of Ama, for possessing over 10 red drum, taking undersized red drum and taking undersized black drum.
An LDWF agent observed Gauthier Jr. leaving a fishing spot and conducted a creel limit and license inspection. Upon making contact with the subject, the agent found Gauthier Jr. in possession of 26 red drum of which 24 were under the legal size limit of 16 inches. The agents also found him in possession of three undersized black drum.
The daily limit on red drum is five fish per licensed fisherman. The agent seized all of the fish and donated them to a local charity.
Taking undersized black drum and undersized red drum each brings a $100 to $350 fine and up to 60 days in jail. Possessing over 10 red drum carries a $400 to $950 fine and up to 120 days in jail. Gauthier also faces a $25 fine per undersized red drum totaling $600.
Gauthier may also face civil restitution for the fish totaling $688.22.
