Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries enforcement agents wrote 39 citations to 29 subjects for alleged dove baiting related cases during the opening weekend of the dove season, Sept. 1-3.
In Franklin Parish, agents issued eight citations for hunting doves over a baited area and six citations for aiding and abetting others in hunting doves over a baited area.
Agents issued five citations for hunting doves over a baited area and one citation for aiding and abetting others in hunting doves over a baited area in Rapides Parish.
Agents also issued five citations for hunting doves over a baited area, two placement of bait citations and two aiding and abetting others in hunting doves over a baited area in St. Helena Parish.
In West Feliciana Pariah, agents wrote four hunting doves over a baited area citations and one placement of bait citation.
In Avoyelles Parish, agents issued two citations for hunting doves over a baited area and one citation for aiding and abetting other in hunting doves over a baited area.
Lastly, agents issued two citations for hunting doves over a baited area in Evangeline Parish.
All migratory game bird baiting cases are filed with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for prosecution in Federal Court.
