The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries has amended crappie regulations on Eagle Lake in Madison Parish to establish consistency with Mississippi, who borders the lake on the east.

Effective October 1, the new daily take and size regulations are 30 fish per person with an 11-inch minimum length limit.

The Mississippi Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks Commission passed identical regulations, and the new rules will remain in effect for a four-year period.

After the four-year period, a crappie population stock assessment and angler opinion survey will be administered to determine future management.
