The Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission recently received a presentation on southern flounder management options.  The most recent flounder stock assessment has indicated a decline in flounder recruitment, which has resulted in the stock size falling below healthy levels. The commission was presented with management options that are expected to return flounder stocks to a sustainable level.

The commission requested the department to explore several other management options and report back to the commission at a later meeting.  No action was taken on flounder management at this meeting.

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries will publish links to the web-based survey through our social media accountswebsite, and news release when available. LDWF encourages public participation throughout the management process to ensure all stakeholder interests are considered. Because the commission's decisions directly impact stakeholders, it is essential to provide feedback when we solicit input.
