The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries and the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission are hosting a Red Snapper Education Day on Wednesday, September 7, 2016, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., in the Louisiana Room at LDWF Headquarters, located at 2000 Quail Drive, Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
The purpose of this event is to provide the Commission with information about Gulf of Mexico red snapper, including the status of the stock; a brief history of management of Gulf red snapper fisheries; and current management challenges and alternatives.
The event will include presentations from a variety of stakeholders and interested parties, including, but not limited to, staff from LDWF and NOAA’s National Marine Fisheries Service, as well as representatives from the private recreational angling community, for-hire and commercial fishing industries, and restaurant industry. The event will also include a facilitated discussion. The preliminary agenda is as follows:
