Search and rescue personnel recovered a Prarieville man from the Blood River on June 25 following a single boat incident.

Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) agents recovered the body of Larry Andre Jr., 59, around 10:15 p.m.  LDWF agents then transported Andre Jr. to land for transport to the North Oaks Hospital in Hammond where he was pronounced dead.

According to Andre Jr.'s wife who was the passenger in the vessel, Andre Jr. was travelling on Blood River when he collided with a bulkhead and subsequently trees ejecting him into the water around 9:55 p.m.  Andre Jr. suffered serious head trauma upon entering the water.  His wife remained in the vessel and suffered some minor injuries.

LDWF will be the lead investigative agency for this boating incident.  Andre Jr. was not wearing a personal flotation device.  Andre Jr.'s body was turned over to the Livingston Parish Coroner's Office to determine an official cause of death.  LDWF agents took blood from Andre Jr. for a toxicology report.  LDWF believes that alcohol played a significant factor in this boating incident at this time.

The Livingston Parish Fire Department was also at the boating incident scene and assisted in recovery efforts.
