A Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries enforcement agent cited two Marksville subjects for alleged dove hunting violations near Mansura in Avoyelles Parish on Aug. 18.
Corporal Kenny Robertson cited Laine E. Ducote, 18, and a juvenile for hunting doves during a closed season.
Agents received a tip on the morning of Aug. 18 about two subjects hunting doves during a closed season in the Mansura area. Corporal Robertson responded to the scene and found mechanical decoys for hunting doves in the area.
After further investigation, Corporal Robertson was able to determine that Ducote and a juvenile were hunting doves in the area. Corporal Robertson met up with Ducote and the juvenile and they admitted to hunting doves in this area with Ducote harvesting one mourning dove.
The dove season for this area does not open until Sept. 2.
Hunting doves during a closed season brings a $400 to $950 fine and up to 120 days in jail.
