Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) enforcement agents cited a New Orleans subject for alleged littering on May 27 in Orleans Parish.
Agens cited Ronmel Funez-Matamoros, 28, for gross littering.
Agents were contacted in reference to a red truck possibly dumping trash near the Highway 90 (Chef Mentuer) and Highway 11 intersection. This intersection is a long-standing location for dumping and has been cleaned on multiple occasions.
Agents arrived on scene and observed several old mattresses and furniture along with household trash on the side of the intersection. Agents then found identifying material in the trash that linked Funez-Matamoros to the trash.
Agents made contact with the subject and after conducting an interview agents determined the litter was placed intentionally by Funez-Matamoros.
Gross littering carries up to a $900 fine, up to 30 days in jail and 16 hours of community service in a litter abatement program.
Agents participating in the case are Senior Agent Salvador Mangano and Agent Mason Castello.
