Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries enforcement agents cited three men for alleged hunting violations in East Baton Rouge Parish on Jan. 18.
Agents cited Blaise Mahaffey, 20, Cameron Roubique, 25, and Phillip Weber III, 30, for failing to tag deer and failing to validate deer. The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office also charged the three men for criminal trespassing.
Agents received information about the men trespassing and hunting on private land near Baton Rouge. After further investigation, agents learned that the men baited the area with corn and harvested three antlered deer and one antlerless deer while knowingly trespassing on private land.
The men did not tag or validate three of the harvested deer. Agents seized the four deer.
Failing to tag deer brings up to a $350 fine for each offense. Criminal trespassing carries a $100 to $500 fine and up to 30 days in jail.
The men may also face civil restitution totaling $4,872 for the replacement value of the deer.
Agents participating in the case are Corporal Brent Hebert, Agent Ethan Arbour and Sgt. Ed Ridgel.
