The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) is now accepting applications for Clean Vessel Act grants. The United States Fish and Wildlife Service designed this grant program to provide grants to states and territories for pumpout stations and waste reception facilities to dispose of recreational boater sewage safely.
The Clean Vessel Act Program provides funding to marina operators and local governmental entities to cover up to 75% of the cost of installing or renovating boat sewage disposal facilities. Most costs are eligible for reimbursement under these grants, including design and engineering, permits, equipment, electrical/water/sewage hookups, and construction/installation. This program will not fund the purchase and/or installation of sewage treatment plants or systems.
LDWF may apply for up to $1,500,000 for coastal activities and $1,500,000 for inland activities; however, any level of funding over $50,000 will be evaluated and compete on a national level. More information regarding this program can be found here.
Applications must be submitted through the LDWF online application portal found here. Applications for the Clean Vessel Act Program must be submitted to LDWF on or before October 20, 2024, to be considered for the current funding cycle.
