The Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council is seeking applicants for an Ad Hoc Charter For-Hire Data Collection Advisory Panel. The Panel is charged with providing Gulf-wide stakeholder insight on the development of a new electronic data collection program for the charter for-hire and headboat fishing industry. The Panel should consider lessons learned from the Southeast For-Hire Integrated Electronic Reporting Program (SEFHIER) program and work collaboratively to discuss strategies that would enhance the timeliness, accuracy, and quality of data for the federal for-hire fleet. The Panel should also consider balancing the anticipated reporting and economic burdens associated with their recommended program requirements.
Panel members will be appointed to serve until work on the issue is complete. Members of the Panel will be appointed at the Council’s discretion. Participation in this Ad Hoc Panel is not subject to standing advisory panel participation limitations. The Council will perform fishery violations background checks on applicants and is expected to populate the Panel during its October 2023 meeting.
Application Deadline: 5:00 PM, EDT on September 8, 2023
