An Iberville Parish man pleaded guilty in the Federal U.S. District Court Middle District of Louisiana in Baton Rouge on July 24 for migratory game bird violations.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Richard L. Bourgeois Jr. sentenced Hunter Settoon, 20, of Bayou Pigeon, to pay a $1,135 fine and suspended him from hunting for one year.

Settoon pleaded guilty to placing bait to hunt migratory game birds and taking migratory game birds over a baited area.

Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) enforcement agents federally cited Settoon on Jan. 1, 2023 in Iberville Parish after observing Settoon hunting migratory game birds over an area that agents had documented to be baited with wheat and corn.

Agents participating in the case were Sgt. Tyler Smith, Corporal Luke Langley and Corporal Garrett Kirkland.
