The Louisiana National Estuarine Research Reserve (LaNERR) Site Development Committee has postponed a series of public meetings until early 2022 due to Hurricane Ida. The meetings are to gather public input on the site development phase of the process of selecting to nominate a Louisiana estuary to the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
The National Estuarine Research Reserve (NERR) System is a nationwide network of 29 coastal sites designed to protect and study estuarine systems. Currently there are none in Louisiana, but the LaNERR Site Development Committee is working to nominate one for establishment in Louisiana.
