The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) Hunter Education program was awarded a set of tree stand safety banners that will assist in teaching proper tree stand safety from the Tree Stand Safety Awareness Foundation (TSSA).

LDWF’s Hunter Education program was one of 10 from around the nation to receive the banners. According to Glen Mayhew, President of TSSA, “this project would not have been possible without the support of grant funding from the Whitetails Unlimited Foundation.” TSSA also wants to thank the International Hunter Education Association – USA (IHEA-USA) for their support in this process.

The concept behind the banners was initiated by input from hunter education instructors and “it only makes sense to put the end product back in the hands of the educators,’’ according to Mayhew. “The banners will be used in hunter education courses, bow hunter education courses, tree stand safety courses and other public events. Hunter educators are our boots on the ground, educating our future hunters. It takes everyone in the outdoors industry raising awareness. We want all of our hunters to come home safe to their family and friends. This is accomplished by promoting the message of the ABC’s of Tree Stand Safety so that we can continue to see a decline in incidents.”

Hunters and members of the industry alike can help spread the message of the TSSA Foundation. Visit the TSSA website at https://treestandsafetyawarenessfounda.godaddysites.com/ or on social media at www.facebook.com/Treestandsafetyawareness or www.twitter.com/treestandsafety
