The Louisiana Operation Game Thief (LOGT) Board of Directors held a quarterly meeting on Oct. 3 in Mansura.

LOGT is an effective wildlife crime-stopper program focused on preserving and conserving Louisiana’s natural resources. LOGT, which was created in 1984, collaborates with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Enforcement Division and the citizens of Louisiana to combat illegal hunting, fishing and other wildlife-related offenses.

At the quarterly meeting, the LOGT board reviewed 15 cases that included public tips and awarded $4,900 to the informants. A total of 26 subjects were apprehended and 51 citations were written in regards to the reviewed cases.

The cases reviewed and awarded money to the public for their assistance consisted of deer, migratory game bird, alligator, turkey, small game and commercial fishing cases.

If a citizen has information concerning a violation, they can confidentially and anonymously call the Operation Game Thief toll-free, 24-hour line at 1-800-442-2511. If the information provided leads to an arrest or issuance of a citation for the violation, the individual could receive a reward of up to $1,000.
