The Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission (LWFC) voted to delay a decision on spotted seatrout management changes for one year.
The adopted motion asks LDWF to provide the following information at the October 2021 Commission meeting:
- Updated spotted seatrout biological data, either through an updated stock assessment or other biological information, preferably with basin-specific analysis.
- An updated angler preference survey that includes a status quo (no regulation change) option.
The current 12-inch minimum total length and 25 fish daily bag limit will remain in place (except in defined areas of Cameron and Calcasieu parishes where there is a 15 fish daily bag limit, with no more than two over 25").
