The Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission (LWFC) approved extension of a declaration of emergency Thursday (November 2) prohibiting all burning upon Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) owned or managed lands.
The declaration extension will remain in effect through Dec. 7 unless otherwise rescinded or modified by LDWF or LWFC.
According to the declaration, all burning upon LDWF owned or managed lands is strictly prohibited. However, outdoor cooking is allowed using contained cooking equipment, designed for cooking purposes only, on a flame-resistant surface with a water source or fire extinguisher nearby.
This Declaration of Emergency is a matter of public safety and protection, and in order to protect the fish and wildlife resources of the State of Louisiana. Failure to abide by this Declaration of Emergency shall constitute a Class 2 violation.
