The Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission heard a report at their Sept. 3 meeting from the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) on three proposals from organizations seeking funding for breeding waterfowl habitat conservation.
After hearing Wildlife Division biologist evaluations, and two deadlocked votes on allocations, the Commission agreed to request an Attorney General’s opinion to interpret the language of the statute governing fund distribution.
Proposals from the United Prairie Foundation, Delta Waterfowl, and Ducks Unlimited were considered. The Commission voted 3 "for" and 3 "against" on motions presented on fund allocations. The
Commission will revisit the funding proposals upon guidance from the AG’s office.
