The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) has reopened the main road from the Ruby Road self-clearing permit station to Ouachita Parish Landfill to vehicle traffic on the Russell Sage Wildlife Management Area. The road was closed due to flooding.

Russell Sage WMA is located in Morehouse, Ouachita, Richland and Caldwell parishes and is approximately seven miles east of Monroe and 10 miles west of Rayville.

Available game species include white-tailed deer, waterfowl, squirrel and rabbit. There is a small game emphasis area on this WMA. The area is managed for waterfowl and the numerous sloughs and waterways offer excellent waterfowl hunting. There are youth deer and squirrel seasons and a youth waterfowl lottery hunt.

For more information on this WMA, go to https://www.wlf.louisiana.gov/page/russell-sage.

All visitors to Russell Sage WMA and all LDWF WMAs must have either a WMA Access Permit, Senior Hunting/Fishing License, Louisiana Sportsman’s Paradise License or Lifetime Hunting/Fishing License.
