Tower Road Bridge, which crosses Mill Creek on West Bay Wildlife Management Area (WMA), is closed indefinitely due to its deteriorated structural condition, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) announced.

There is currently no alternate crossing over Mill Creek. The southern portion of the WMA can be accessed from Tram Road, South River Road and Turner Road.

West Bay WMA, which consists of 59,189 acres, is located near Elizabeth in northern Allen Parish.

Available game species on West Bay WMA are squirrel, rabbit, deer, dove, woodcock and turkey. There are youth deer and squirrel seasons as well as youth and general turkey lottery hunts. Furbearer trapping is allowed during trapping season. There is also a physically challenged season for deer. LDWF maintains two primitive camping areas on the WMA.

All visitors to West Bay WMA and all LDWF WMAs must have either a WMA Access Permit, Senior Hunting/Fishing License, Louisiana Sportsman’s Paradise License or Lifetime Hunting/Fishing License.
