Tunica Hills Wildlife Management Area (WMA) will be closed to all users March 29-April 14 except for youth lottery turkey hunt participants and properly licensed turkey hunters, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) announced. All other activities are prohibited on the WMA during this time, including hiking.
The closure is to prevent possible conflict between turkey hunters and other users and is done out of an abundance of caution.
Other nearby WMAs, including Richard K. Yancey WMA, Dewey W. Wills WMA and Sherburne WMA, will be available for public use during this closure.
