The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) has closed Blackhawk Boat Landing Road, Annie’s Lake Road, Lincecum Road, Union Point Road and Dobbs Bay Road at Richard K. Yancey Wildlife Management Area (WMA) due to flooding. In addition, Routen Camp Road and the Warren Trailhead parking lot on the WMA are closed due to culvert failures.

Sutton Lake Road on Pomme de Terre WMA is closed due to flooding.

Once the water recedes, LDWF will inspect, repair and reopen the roads.

Richard K. Yancey WMA is located approximately 35 miles south of Ferriday on Louisiana Highway 15 in lower Concordia Parish. Available game species include deer, squirrel, rabbit, waterfowl, woodcock, dove and snipe. There is a small game emphasis area, a youth deer season and a youth deer lottery hunt. Annual spring flooding from the Red and Mississippi rivers produces excellent recreational fishing. Common recreational species include bass, bluegill, crappie and catfish.

Pomme de Terre WMA is located approximately six miles east of Moreauville on Louisiana Highway 451 in Avoyelles Parish. Available game species include deer, squirrel, waterfowl and rabbit. There is a youth deer season and a youth turkey lottery hunt. A boat launch into Sutton Lake provides limited recreational fishing access.

All visitors to Richard K. Yancey and Pomme de Terre WMAs and all LDWF WMAs must have either a WMA Access Permit, Senior Hunting/Fishing License, Louisiana Sportsman’s Paradise License, or Lifetime Hunting/Fishing License.
