Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) Inland Fisheries biologists deployed 160 recycled Christmas trees at three locations in Lake Concordia to enhance fish habitat.

Anchored with cinder blocks, these artificial reefs provide important protective cover for juvenile fish while also attracting popular sportfish like bass and crappie, creating prime fishing spots for anglers.

The Christmas trees used for this project were generously donated by Lowe’s Home Improvement stores in Pineville and Alexandria.

The reefs are not marked, but anglers can use the coordinates below to locate these structures.

 Reef locations

These reef locations will be added to the LDWF Louisiana Outdoor Explorer, located on the home page of the LDWF website, in the near future. To view the location of other public freshwater artificial reefs throughout the state, visit the Louisiana Outdoor Explorer, click on the “Get on the Water” tab, then select “Freshwater Artificial Reefs” under the layer list.
