Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries agents (LDWF) are investigating a fatal boating incident that occurred in Rapides Parish on March 30.
The body of John A. Rashall, 48, of Ball, was recovered from Buhlow Lake around 6:10 p.m.
Agents received information around 3:45 p.m. about a boater that fell out of a kayak and didn’t resurface.
LDWF agents along with the Pineville Fire Department and the Pineville Police Department responded to the scene to start a search and rescue. The Pineville Fire Department found and recovered the body of Rashall. His body was turned over to the Rapides Parish Coroner’s Office.
LDWF agents will be the lead investigative agency for this fatal boating incident. It is unknown at this time what caused Rashall to fall out of the kayak. Rashall was not wearing a personal flotation device when his body was recovered.
