The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) announces a vacant seat on the Louisiana Crab Task Force (LCTF) for a commercial hard crab fisherman. If you are a licensed Louisiana commercial blue crab fisherman and are interested in serving as a member of the LCTF and would like to be considered for appointment, please click here and fill out the online application. The deadline to complete the online application is June 30, 2022.
The LCTF was established in 2001 to advise the LDWF and the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission on matters pertaining to the management and development of the crab industry in Louisiana. The LCTF board consists of four Louisiana crab dealers and a processor, two Louisiana soft shell crab processors, and seven Louisiana commercial hard crab fishermen. All members of the LCTF are appointed by the LDWF Secretary and are subject to Senate confirmation. The task force meets approximately four times a year on an as-needed basis.
The LCTF operates under the LDWF and is governed by the department’s policies and regulations. Members serving on the LCTF shall adhere to the LCTF By-laws (click here for LCTF By-laws). Meetings are held quarterly, unless the LCTF deems additional meetings are necessary.
The LDWF encourages industry stakeholders to participate in the LCTF meetings and to play a part in the overall improvement of the fishery. For more information, please contact Peyton Cagle at 337-491-2575 or pcagle@wlf.la.gov.
