The Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission (LWFC) adopted an amendment to the 2023-25 hunting regulation notices of intent (NOI) that will alter the second and third split dates for the West Zone duck season for 2023-24. The action came during the commission’s March meeting March 2 in Baton Rouge.
Final approval of the 2023-25 hunting regulation NOI amendments will come at the May LWFC meeting, set for May 4.
The changes will occur during the second and third splits. The first split will run from Nov. 11, 2023-Dec. 3, 2023, which is unchanged. The second split will be from Dec. 11, 2023-Jan. 7, 2024 and the third from Jan. 13, 2024-Jan. 21, 2024. Youth and veterans weekend will still be held Nov. 4-5, 2023.
In addition, the light geese, white-fronted goose, Canada goose and Conservation Order for light geese seasons will be altered. To view the changes, go to https://www.wlf.louisiana.gov/resources/category/commission-action-items.

A public hearing on all amendments will be held April 20 at 10 a.m. in the Joe L. Herring Louisiana Room at the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries headquarters building, 2000 Quail Drive, Baton Rouge.
