The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) has reopened Catfish Bayou Road, Blount Road, Goose Lake Road, Blackhawk Road and Boat Launch, Lincecum Road, Dobbs Bay Road and all roads east of the Mississippi River levee on the Richard K. Yancey Wildlife Management Area (WMA). The roads were closed due to flooding and damage sustained from prolonged flooding.

Richard K. Yancey WMA is located approximately 35 miles south of Ferriday on Louisiana Highway 15 in lower Concordia Parish.

Available game species include deer, squirrel, rabbit, waterfowl, woodcock, dove and snipe. There is a small game emphasis area, a youth deer season and a youth deer lottery hunt. Annual spring flooding from the Red and Mississippi rivers produces excellent recreational fishing. Common recreational species include bass, bluegill, crappie, and catfish.

All visitors to Richard K. Yancey WMA and all LDWF WMAs must have either a WMA Access Permit, Senior Hunting/Fishing License, Louisiana Sportsman’s Paradise License, or Lifetime Hunting/Fishing License.
