Robert Shadoin participated today in his first Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission (LWFC) meeting as the new secretary of the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF).

Shadoin, the former LDWF deputy secretary, was appointed to the position last week by Gov. John Bel Edwards. Former LDWF Secretary Jack Montoucet resigned Monday.

In his first address, Shadoin thanked Montoucet for his years of service and leadership “and the many great achievements he accomplished during his tenure as secretary. It is with great honor and a sense of duty that I take on this role. I look forward to working with each of you in the future and to serving this Commission and the Department...”

Montoucet named Shadoin deputy secretary in October of 2020.

Shadoin is an attorney and a former member of the state House of Representatives from the 12th district, which includes Lincoln and Union parishes.
