Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries enforcement agents cited a Slidell man for alleged hunting violations in Orleans Parish on Jan. 15.
Agents cited Barry Labruzzo, 44, for possessing over the daily limit of rabbits.
Agents were on patrol when they observed Labruzzo actively hunting. Agents made contact with Labruzzo and he said he was rabbit hunting and that his hunting license was in his truck.
Agents followed Labruzzo to his truck where he produced a hunting license. Agents then found Labruzzo in possession of 12 freshly harvested rabbits in the bed of his truck putting him four over the daily limit.
Agents seized the rabbits and donated them to a local charity.
Possessing over the daily limit of rabbits brings a $250 to $500 fine and up to 90 days in jail. Labruzzo may also face civil restitution totaling up to $380 for the replacement value of the illegally taken rabbits.
Agents participating in the case are Senior Agent Salvador Mangano and Corporal Gary Levron.
