LDWF Announces Oyster Sack Limit Reduction in Calcasieu Lake Public Oyster Area
LDWF has announced that the daily take and possession limit of oysters shall not exceed 10 sacks in Calcasieu Lake Public Oyster Area effective one-half hour after sunrise next Friday (Oct. 30, 2020). Biological data collected post hurricanes Laura and Delta have indicated reduced oyster stocks in Calcasieu Lake.
LDWF Urges Public to be Mindful of Displaced Wildlife in Aftermath of Hurricane Delta
In the aftermath of Hurricane Delta, wildlife species will seek higher ground and be displaced into habitat with which they may not be familiar. LDWF urges the public to be especially cognizant of wildlife forced into populated areas by flood water from the storm.
Primitive Firearm Deer Season at Alexander State Forest WMA to be Self-Clearing Only Oct. 10-11
The primitive firearm deer season scheduled for Saturday and Sunday (Oct. 10-11) at Alexander State Forest Wildlife Management Area (WMA) will be self-clearing only, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) announced. The mandatory deer check will not be required due to possible impacts from Hurricane Delta.
